Q: What's the difference between "retrieved" and "cited" sources?
A: Retrieved sources are everything ASK searched and considered relevant. Cited sources are the subset actually referenced in the answer via an inline marker. A large gap between the two isn't a problem by itself, it just means many retrieved sources weren't directly relevant enough to cite.
Q: Can I change the output format after I've already run a query?
A: The output format (IRAC, CREAC, or Brief) is set before you run the query. To get the same research in a different format, ask a follow-up question specifying the format you'd like, or start a new run with that format selected.
Q: My research run stopped or looks incomplete. What happened?
A: If you click Stop while an answer is generating, ASK halts early and keeps whatever was produced up to that point. You can ask a follow-up question to continue or fill in the rest.
Q: Where can I find research I ran earlier?
A: Every run is saved automatically. Open ‘Recent Runs’ from the ASK landing page to revisit any past research, including its follow-up conversation.
Q: Should I search all databases, or narrow to a specific category?
A: Narrowing to the relevant category (for example, Corporate Laws for a company law question) generally gives faster, more precise results. Searching all databases in a country is useful when you're not yet sure which category your question falls under.
