Understanding Research Results

• Title bar: Shows the output format badge (e.g. BRIEF), the run's title, and an edit (pencil) icon to rename it.
• Status indicators: A "Running" indicator while the answer generates, along with elapsed time, tokens in, and tokens out.
• Metadata line: Shows the jurisdiction/category searched (e.g. "India · Corporate Laws"), who ran it, and the date and time.
• Answer body: Streams in as it's generated, structured according to your chosen output type

• Shows how many sources were retrieved in total versus how many were actually cited in the answer, and whether the answer is "grounded" (i.e. backed by retrieved sources rather than generated freely).
• Two tabs: Referred (sources actually used in the answer) and All (every source retrieved).

Each source card shows:

• A relevance score (e.g. 0.68)
• A category tag (e.g. "Companies Act")
• The case or document title
• A short excerpt from the source
• The underlying file name
• Action icons to copy, preview, open, or download the source document

Highlighted References

Throughout the entire answer, wherever ASK makes a factual or legal claim, you'll see small bracketed numbers like [3], [1], [9], [15]. These inline reference markers appear everywhere in the response, not just in one section: in ordinary prose paragraphs, in bulleted lists, in numbered lists, and in structured case tables.

Each marker points to the exact source(s) that support that specific sentence or point, matching the numbered source cards in the Sources panel on the right.

Click any inline reference marker to open a popover showing:

• The source number and category tag (e.g. "Companies Act")
• The full case title
• A scrollable excerpt from the actual source document backing the claim
• An ‘Open source document’ button to view the original file directly
• A single point can carry more than one marker (e.g. [1] [9] [15]) when multiple sources support it.
• Where a case table is present, a Copy button above it lets you copy the whole table in one click.

The Sources panel header updates to show "43 retrieved · 14 cited · grounded", meaning of all the sources retrieved for the query, 14 were actually cited via these inline markers across the whole answer.

Footer

At the very bottom of the page, you'll find your workspace breadcrumb (organization, team, matter), the current plan (e.g. "Plan: Free"), and system/version info, along with quick links for Feedback, Help, Shortcuts, Sound, and Sign out.
