Case Search helps you find and analyse judicial decisions across Indian courts using keywords, Acts, and smart filters. It allows you to quickly locate relevant judgments and drill down into case details with AI-assisted insights.
1. Accessing Case Search
Location: Left navigation menu → Case Search
This opens the Case Search workspace where you can search across the complete judgments database on Lexlegis.ai.
2. Searching for Cases
Search bar: Enter keywords related to your legal issue (e.g., trade, interest on securities, court).
This retrieves matching judgments from across courts.
Select Relevant Act: Choose an Act from the dropdown to narrow results to specific legislation.
This helps filter cases strictly linked to the selected statute.
Search button: Click Search to fetch results.
The system displays matching judgments ranked by relevance.
3. Understanding Search Results
Each result shows key details at a glance:
Case title: Displays the names of the parties involved.
Helps identify the judgment quickly.
Court and citation: Indicates the court and official citation.
Useful for referencing and validation.
Case snippet: Shows a relevant extract from the judgment.
Provides context before opening the full case.
View Source: Opens the original judgment document.
Allows you to read the judgment in full.
Deep-Dive: Opens an AI-powered analysis view.
Helps you explore insights, summaries, and legal reasoning.
4. Using Filters and Insights
In Favour Of: Filter cases by outcome (Assessee, Revenue, Party, Other).
Useful for understanding judicial trends.
Relevant Act: Apply or clear Act-based filters.
Keeps results focused on specific legislation.
Keywords: Select common legal themes and concepts.
Helps refine results using frequently occurring issues.
Apply Filter: Click after selecting filters.
Updates results instantly based on your selection.
5. Viewing Case Details
Clicking a case opens the detailed view with two tabs:
5.1 Metadata
Citation, parties, court, date, sections, judge details:
Gives a structured overview of the case information.
5.2 Judgment
Full text of the judgment:
Allows you to read, scroll, and analyse the complete decision.
6. Starting a New Search
New Search: Click New Search from the case view.
Returns you to the Case Search page to begin again.
7. Tip
Use Act filters and keywords together for faster, more precise results, especially when researching recurring legal issues.
