Files in Lexlegis represent the documents you use across Ask, Interact, and Draft. These may include contracts, pleadings, notices, correspondence, and other legal materials.
This article explains how to upload files and how file processing works before they become available for use.
1. Uploading Files
You can upload files directly from the Library → Files section.
Steps to upload files
1. Create a folder (if not already created)
- Go to Library → Files
- Click Create Folder
- Enter folder details and save
2. Go to Library → Files
3. Click Add Files (top right)
4. An upload window pop-up will show up
In the upload window:
- Select the Folder where files should be stored
- If no folder exists, create a folder first before uploading
5. Click to upload or drag and drop files
6. (Optional) Add Tags for better organisation. Click Upload
File Upload Details
- You can upload multiple files at once (up to 100 files)
- If you are on a trial plan, you can only upload files up to 100 pages each.
- Maximum file size: 25 MB per file
- Supported formats include:
.jpg, .pdf, .docx, .txt, .png, .xlsx, .csv, .ppt, .pptx
Important:
Files can only be uploaded into a folder. If no folder exists, you must create one before uploading.
2. File Processing After Upload
After uploading, Lexlegis processes the file before it becomes available for use.
- Files under 25 pages are processed immediately and move to Processed
- Files over 25 pages are added to Queue where processing may take slightly longer
This processing happens only once at the time of the first upload.
3. File Availability
Once a file has been processed:
- It becomes instantly available across:
- Ask
- Interact
- Draft
- You can reuse the same file without waiting again
Files do not need to be reprocessed when used in different workflows.
4. Important Notes
- Processing occurs only during the first upload
- Reusing files does not trigger reprocessing
- Ensure files are processed before using them in workflows
5. Best Practices
- Upload complete and readable documents
- Use clear and consistent file names
- Always select the correct folder before uploading
- Use tags to improve searchability
- Avoid duplicate uploads
6. Applies Across Library Items
The creation and organisation flow is similar across other Library sections such as Prompts, Question Sets, Templates, Clauses, and AI Rulebooks.
Each item must be created or saved within a folder and can optionally include tags for organisation.
