In Reactive Drafting, you must select the document that you want to respond to. Lexlegis.ai uses this document to understand the context and generate an appropriate response.
This step is required in Reactive Drafting.
Note:
This option is available in Basic mode because uploading the document is necessary to generate a response. You can switch to Advanced mode to access additional optional inputs such as templates, reference files, and clauses.
1. Where This Step Appears
After selecting Reactive Drafting, you will see: Select the document you are responding to*
This step is mandatory and cannot be skipped.
2. What This Step Does
This section allows you to:
- Search your Library
- Browse folders
- Select the main document you are replying to
- Upload a new document if needed
The selected document becomes the primary reference for your response.
3. How to Select the Document
- Click on Step 2: Select the document you are responding to
- Use the Search bar to find the document
- Browse through folders in your Library
- Select the correct file
Once selected, this document will form the basis of your draft.
4. Uploading a New Document
If the file you want to use is not already available, you can upload a file directly from the Draft workflow.
From this screen, you can:
- Upload one or more reference files
- Select an existing folder to store them
- Add tags for easier reuse and organisation
Once uploaded, the files becomes immediately available for selection in the current draft.
Important:
- You can upload files only into existing folders from this step
- Creating, renaming, or reorganising folders must be done from the Library
This allows you to continue drafting without leaving the workflow, while keeping file structure centrally managed.
5. Why This Step Is Important
The system uses this document to:
- Understand the context of the dispute or issue
- Identify the claims or allegations made
- Extract relevant facts, dates, and references
- Structure your response accurately
Without selecting the correct document, the draft may lack proper context.
6. When This Step Does Not Appear
This step is not shown in Proactive Drafting, because proactive drafts are first-time documents and are not written in response to any existing file.
